About University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES)
The UPES Act of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand created the UPES University in 2003. Through its nine colleges of study, UPES University provides Management, Engineering, and Science majors with UG, PG, PhD, and other courses. In the University Overall category of the QS Asia University Rankings 2023, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is placed ninth. IACBE, NBA, NAAC, UGC, the Bar Council of India, and the Pharmacy Council of India have all given Petroleum University their seals of approval.
The Government of India, DISR, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and UPES University all recognize the university as a scientific and research organization. The Association of Indian Universities, the International Association of Universities, the World Design Organization, the CII, and the PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry all recognize UPES Dehradun as a member. In Dehradun, the institution has two campuses: UPES Bidholi and UPES Kandoli. The institution provides online courses to students through CCE. The Distance Education Council has given its approval to the online courses.

Merit based Scholarships

Merit-Based Scholarship:
For students pursuing a B.Tech, the scholarship is available if they receive an overall grade point average of 80% in classes X and XII and 80% in PCM. The scholarships will only be available for 10% of each B.Tech program''s available seats. To qualified applicants, scholarships will be awarded for the first semester in order of merit. Furthermore, scholarships shall only be given based on merit, and their renewal in succeeding years will follow university policy. 50% of the first semester''s tuition is covered by the scholarship. -
Scholarships for State Board Top Performers in Uttarakhand:
The Uttarakhand State Board allots one seat per programme in the merit ranking system. The seats set aside under this category will fall under the 15% reservation for students from Uttarakhand. The candidates must possess a "Sthai Niwas Praman Patra" (certificate of permanent residence). The students will only be eligible for one scholarship at a time (either through the category of Uttarakhand Board Toppers or Uttarakhand Residents). In succeeding years, the scholarship will be awarded in accordance with the university''s merit scholarship programme. The scholarship amount is 25% of the first-year tuition fee waiver for boys and 35% of the first-year tuition fee waiver for girls.
